USCL Boston Blitz vs NY Knights (1.4)
US Chess League, 2008

1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nf3 Nf6 4. Nc3 dxc4 5. a4 Bg4

This old line was a suprise from Evan but in hindsight it seems like he was even less prepared than I was - burning lots of time and playing 7...Nd5?!.

6. Ne5 Bh5 7. f3 Nd5?!

7... Nfd7 8. Nxc4 e5 9. Ne4 Is as far as I remembered

8. e4 Nxc3 9. bxc3 e6 10. g4!?

I wanted to muddy the water a bit.

10... Bg6?

10... Qh4+ 11. Ke2 Bg6 12. Rb1 b6 13. Bf4 Is better for white, but this is certainly an improvement over the game continuation.

11. h4 f6 12. Nxg6 hxg6 13. Bxc4 Qc7

13... Qd6

14. Bxe6!

14. Kf2 Bd6 15. Bxe6 Bg3+ 16. Kg2 Bxh4 17. e5!

14... Qg3+ 15. Ke2 Qg2+

15... Nd7

16. Ke3

16. Kd3 seemed better at first until I saw 16... Na6! 17... Nc5+ Rd8

16... Bd6?

16... Nd7

17. Bc8! Nd7 18. Bxb7 Ne5!?

A good practical try, even though the knight can be taken its probably not a good idea, I remember calculating some crazy lines where my king would sometimes end up on g6 or g7...

18... Rb8 19. Bxc6 is just hopeless

19. Rg1!

19. dxe5 Bc5+ 20. Kd3 (20. Kf4 O-O!! ) 20... Rd8+

19... Qh2 20. Bxa8 O-O 21. Bb7 f5

Appears scarier than it really is.

22. gxf5 gxf5 23. exf5! Rxf5 24. Rf1 Qg3 25. Kd2

Run, Forrest run....

25... Nxf3+ 26. Kc2 Qg6 27. Qd3 Qg2+ 28. Bd2 Rf7 29. Bxc6
